We’ve come a long way since the floppy disk… that miraculous palm-sized storage medium that could hold all the text we could write in a year. Well, media has grown up now, and CD-ROM disks are highly effective multi-media tools for any group with a purpose.

The multi-media presentations on a CD-ROM allow you to combine text with pictures, video, graphic design, web links and audio to create a better understanding of your company, ministry or church. As a matter of fact, you could hold all of your marketing material on one, thin, inexpensive disk. Daniel Beutler, Executive Officer for International Christian Response, explains why their new CD-ROM is helpful.

“For us the CDs are a contemporary tool to communicate our ministry with people. The CDs also provide our audience with a link to our website with up-to-date information. As a ministry we want to make use of the powerful impact that video and audio can have in getting our message across. At the same time, we want to avoid using media to promote ministry simply for the sake of keeping in step with the trend.”

Even though CD-ROMs have been around for a while, they are still growing in popularity as an effective way to reach an audience. More than a tool for effective communication, CD-ROMs can inspire and challenge through creative graphics and audio/visual elements. They can be designed with specific or multiple purposes in mind and are adaptable to the needs and environments of different groups of people, whether that means multiple language options, more or less video or graphics, etc.

“As a ministry it is important for us to adapt to the environment God has placed us in,” Daniel continues. “For us this means taking into consideration the rapid changes in communication and technology. While our message remains the same, we want to adapt to an audience that is increasingly media focused. The challenge for us is to communicate in a relevant and contemporary fashion without being media-driven.”

International Christian Response uses their CD to inform and educate their clients. Similarly, many North American churches use CD ROMs as an educational tool in their Sunday school programs. Seasons of the Spirit curriculum, distributed by Woodlake Books in BC, allows for interactive learning for all ages, from lectionary-based fundamentals to simpler exercises for younger audiences. The CDs use pictures and text as well as audio and video components. The churches that use Seasons of the Spirit receive valuable life lessons through a culturally relevant medium.

Multimedia CD-ROM is an excellent tool for any business, church or ministry. To discuss what a multi-media presentation could do for you, contact info@ministrymedia.com.
